Hey everyone, welcome back to another episode of the SEO Knowledge Bomb podcast. In this episode, I had the privilege of speaking with renowned SEO expert Josh Bachynski.

Josh has over 20 years of experience in SEO and digital marketing. He's considered an industry leader and "insider secrets" guru when it comes to understanding and manipulating Google's search algorithms.

In our conversation, Josh dropped some major knowledge bombs about the current state of SEO and where things are heading in the future. Here are some of the key takeaways:

  1. SEO is becoming more and more AI-driven. Google and other search engines are relying heavily on artificial intelligence like neural networks and natural language processing to understand searches and match them to relevant content. As an SEO professional, you need to understand how these AI systems work in order to optimize effectively.
  2. Links are becoming less important. With advancements in AI, Google doesn't rely as much on links as trust and ranking signals. Josh says that "entity vectors" - semantic associations between concepts, keywords, and pages - are becoming the new links. You need to focus on developing strong "expert" entities related to your niche.
  3. Create content that ticks the E-A-T boxes. Google evaluates pages for Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness. Target informational, factual content that demonstrates your expertise and authority. Aim to be referenced and linked to by legitimate industry sources.
  4. Optimize for the machine first, human second. Write content in a way that clearly conveys semantics, expertise, and topical relevance to Google's algorithms. Interest and readability for users comes second.
  5. Understand Google's AI stack. RankBrain, BERT, Knowledge Graph, etc. Each AI component evaluates and scores pages differently. You need to reverse-engineer and optimize for each one.
  6. Join a professional SEO community. With Google constantly evolving its algorithms, ongoing education and testing is crucial. Join an elite SEO mastermind group to stay ahead of changes.
  7. Invest in AI tools. Leverage AI-powered tools that tap into Google's algorithms and data to surface keywords, content ideas, and optimization tips specific to your niche.
  8. Links still matter, but avoid "spammy" ones. Don't buy links in bulk. Focus on high-quality referral and expert links that aid your entity-building.
  9. Produce truly unique, high-value content. Google is cracking down on duplicate, scraped, and thin content. Differentiate yourself with original value-add content.
  10. SEO is better suited to independent learners. It's an ever-changing field requiring continual learning. If you prefer fixed rules and structure, focus more on paid ads.

Those were the big SEO insights I learned from my chat with Josh. He really emphasized the importance of staying on top of the latest AI and algorithm developments if you want to be successful with organic search today and in the future.
