Wow, that interview with Amanda was jam-packed with so much valuable SEO knowledge! As the head of marketing at Stacker Studio, she really knows her stuff when it comes to creating content that ranks and gets links.
I loved her advice about taking a “zoom out” approach when creating content for links - don’t just focus on your products and services, but talk about broader industry topics. For an ecommerce site, instead of writing about your specific pet products, create content around pets in general. This makes the content more interesting to a wider audience.
Amanda also shared some excellent tips on leveraging data for creating compelling stories. She talked about using free government data sets as well as looking for other authoritative sources of data you can tap into. I loved the tip about keeping track of when data sets get updated so you can find fresh stories.
One of my biggest takeaways was around localizing content. Amanda said localized stories consistently perform well, often getting twice as many links as more general national stories. I never realized how powerful localization could be for link building!
The advice about writing surprising headlines that challenge assumptions or expectations was gold too. Amanda shared headlines that included phrases like “No, it's not Florida” and “Actually” to grab reader attention. I’m definitely going to test out some assumptions-defying headlines now!
Of course we got into syndication too, since that’s Stacker Studio’s specialty. Amanda broke down the differences between owned, paid, and earned syndication clearly. I loved learning how earned syndication through newswires works - you essentially earn high-quality links when Publishers choose to run your content.
Speaking of high-quality links, Amanda shared that repeatedly getting links from the same authoritative sites can still be highly valuable for rankings. But Stacker also has a team constantly working to expand their network of Publishers.
I could go on and on about all the knowledge bombs Amanda dropped! She covered so much helpful ground around ideating compelling stories from data, crafting catchy headlines, repurposing existing content, and more.
If you want to rank #1 in Google, you absolutely have to listen to this full interview. Amanda is truly an expert when it comes to data-driven content and links. She even shared a case study showing their clients seeing 100%+ increases in organic traffic on average!
I’m definitely going to be testing out her tips and advice around localization, surprising headlines, leveraging data, and earning high-quality links. Amanda gave us an SEO masterclass today!
